Sleepless

Cricket songs grace the night air
mingling with the rush of rain
and the leaky toilet.
Your snoring subsides
 to uneven breathing
while I lay in the dark
eyes wide open
forgetting what it feels like
to sleep, to dream,  to rest
or remember how.
