Illusion

Photo Chalenge # 85 Illusion

                                                           “Decompose” by zaldy icaonapo

Fragile petals
falls, dancing
in the light shadows;
hiding thorns within.
Deception lingers
in the corner
of her smiling lips,
playing with your soul.

Indian Fort

Carpe Diem #850 Tsengel (volcano)

 heat and sulfa

at the volcano’s rim -
we argue

This volcano named Tsengel Hairhan means "delight holy mountain" in Mongolian. As I looked at pictures of beautiful world around the Altai Mountains I thought of the Pinnacles Of Indian Fort Mountain. These are beautiful mountains in Berea, Kentucky where we hiked as children. This picture was taken just before my brother was diagnosed with leukemia in 1978. It’s not a great shot but it is full of wonderful memories.

forever resting
my brother’s memory

at the Pinnacle

Here is a video I found that will take you on a sweat free trip through some of the beauty to be found at Indian .Fort

Cor van den Heuvel's Poetry

Carpe Diem Special #177 Cor van den Heuvel's "a tide pool", three favorite haiku

Cor van den Heuvel's Haiku

a drop of water
floats by the canoe
on a curled leaf

neon puddles
in front of the waterfront bar
sound of a blues

on the bathroom hamper
morning sunlight fills the sails
of a toy boat

the rusted paperclip
has stained my old poem
wind in the eaves

After reading Cor van den Heuve's poetry I had a hard time choosing favorites.  I choose the poems above for how they capture the simplicity of everyday life and wrap it in beauty.  All yesterday evening I thought about ordinary things and finding that spark of interest.  So today, I have been on a roll and written over 30 poems, mostly haiku.  ( Don’t worry Hamish I will not post them all here, besides I don't want to be in competition with Cor van den Heuvel's wonderful poems.)

my old poem found-
yellowed paper creased and worn
memories and ink fade

afternoon sunlight flowers

Past

Haiku Horizons prompt "past"

on a moonlit night
a shadow goes past the moon
a screech owl searching

in the garden
past the rusty trellis
a wrens nest

indian summer
I think of our brief past
slipping away
