Carpe Diem Haiku Shuukan mantra study "Om Mani Padme Hum" and this week we have arrived at the third sound of this mantra "NI" which purifies passion and desire (human realm).
Moonlight bathes

on the church stoop
child suckles mother’s breast
nuns blush
Om purifies bliss and pride (realm of the gods); Ma purifies jealousy and need for entertainment (realm of the jealous gods); Ni purifies passion and desire (human realm); Pad purifies ignorance and prejudice (animal realm); Me purifies greed and possessiveness (realm of the hungry ghosts); Hum purifies aggression and hatred (hell realm).
Nuns seemingly coy can feel some pressure seeing a mother doing motherly duties! Nicely Dolores!

Really beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteI can see those nuns blushing and I can tell just as well as what they're thinking! Breastfeeding in public has become such a heated controversy nowadays. While I may have chose to bottle feed my children, I can not throw stones at the women who choose to breastfeed because it's what nature intended and I have so much respect for the ones that choose to do so. These are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad you enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteWow Dolores what a wonderful and gorgeous response on this Haiku Shuukan episode "Ni" ... I can see those nuns blush while watching the child..
ReplyDeleteIs it ok that I use your second haiku for a Tan Renga Challenge at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai?
