Mysteries

Today’s beauty came this evening.  Five moonflowers were open in the garden.  These beautiful white flowers look like morning glories on steroids.  One fully opened flower is about my hand spread  This is a highly fragrant plant and attracts sphinx moths who pollinate it.  Seeing the flowers got me thinking of the mystery of insects, moths and bats that come out at night to drink from sweet smelling blossoms.  It is amazing that as one set of flowers and insects bed down when the sunsets another set is taking over the night shift.  There is such a delicate yet beautiful between plants and animals, birds and insects.

Mendelssohn

Carpe Diem #1087 String Symphony No. 4 in C minor by Mendelssohn

I was not having any luck writing about the String Symphony but I found Mendelssohn' Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor full of unexpected twists and turns.  Each section filled me with inspiration.

 Mendelssohns - Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor Yuja Wang, Ku.

Romance

Carpe Diem Tanka Splendor #12 Romance

This is not the romance of novels, but it's as romantic as my life gets.  Celebrating 23 years together.

Shadorma -Leaves

 write a condensation of Sara Teasdale’s poem, “Leaves”, in Shadorma form.  (Non-rhyming 6-line poem in 3/5/3/7/7/5.)

ONE by one, like leaves from a tree,
All my faiths have forsaken me;
But the stars above my head
Burn in white and delicate red,
And beneath my feet the earth
Brings the sturdy grass to birth.
I who was content to be
But a silken-singing tree,
But a rustle of delight
In the wistful heart of night,
I have lost the leaves that knew
Touch of rain and weight of dew.
Blinded by a leafy crown
I looked neither up nor down—
But the little leaves that die
Have left me room to see the sky;
Now for the first time I know
Stars above and earth below.

— Sara Teasdale

oh, my leaves
falling one by one
no rustling
forsaken in the dark night
but yonder stars I can see
new delights awakening
a new crown above.shadorma
