Cor van den Heuvel's Poetry

Carpe Diem Special #177 Cor van den Heuvel's "a tide pool", three favorite haiku

Cor van den Heuvel's Haiku

a drop of water
floats by the canoe
on a curled leaf

neon puddles
in front of the waterfront bar
sound of a blues

on the bathroom hamper
morning sunlight fills the sails
of a toy boat

the rusted paperclip
has stained my old poem
wind in the eaves

After reading Cor van den Heuve's poetry I had a hard time choosing favorites.  I choose the poems above for how they capture the simplicity of everyday life and wrap it in beauty.  All yesterday evening I thought about ordinary things and finding that spark of interest.  So today, I have been on a roll and written over 30 poems, mostly haiku.  ( Don’t worry Hamish I will not post them all here, besides I don't want to be in competition with Cor van den Heuvel's wonderful poems.)

my old poem found-
yellowed paper creased and worn
memories and ink fade

through the curtain
afternoon sunlight flowers
damp laundry

Autumn Lake

light of the full moon
shines through colored leaves
at last ... autumn                 © Chèvrefeuille

sweaters pulled from mothballs
donned for a midnight stroll

autumn lake
echo of migrating geese
fades with the sunset
